He no longer mentions any of the studies I cited, and his previous website Efforts to Modify no longer exists.

So he's no longer a good source and I can't find independent sources for these studies (a lot in part because my filter keeps filtering out anything to do with this topic).

So I'm sorry for sending you a link that doesn't back up the sources cited in the email. I wanted to show my support so much that I just shot you an email without researching properly. I'm sorry for leaping before I looked and any annoyance that caused you.

However, you are still in the right!

Best wishes and heartfelt apologies,
Myrtle RisingHDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10943174572566458612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3706868407157129107.post-44794075177749741052018-07-24T11:19:46.536+03:002018-07-24T11:19:46.536+03:00Thank you, Myrtle Rising, so much for your comment...Thank you, Myrtle Rising, so much for your comment! Now I'll post the followup you sent me since your message wouldn't be complete without it.HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10943174572566458612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3706868407157129107.post-84248099620432531352018-07-24T11:17:48.849+03:002018-07-24T11:17:48.849+03:00A 1970 study by L. Hatterer involving 143 clients ...A 1970 study by L. Hatterer involving 143 clients showed that 49 clients were considered as having made a complete adjustment, with 18 clients labeled as "partially recovered."

Of the clients who demonstrated no motivation to change, only 4.6% clients did change (which is actually pretty good considering that they wanted to remain within a toeva lifestyle).

But among those who were highly motivated to change, 24% reported a "straight" orientation after counseling.

A 1979 study by C. Socarides reported that 20 of 45 (44%) men in therapy for same-gender attraction from 1966-1977 achieved what they considered to be a change to a "straight" orientation.

In a 1994 survey by H. Macintosh, 285 psychoanalysts who analyzed 1,215 psychoanalytic clients attracted to their own gender (824 male; 391 female) show that 23% of their clients changed to a "straight" orientation. In addition, the analysts claimed that 84% of their clients reported significant benefits from analysis.

Finally, a 1980 study by L. Birk, using a combination of behavioral group and individual counseling with 14 men, claimed a 100% success rate for men exclusively attracted to other men with the intent to change. Of those 14 clients, 10 of the 14 were satisfactorily married to women at follow-up. Even more interesting, Birk was particular to include in this group only men who had been intimate exclusively with other men, and never women.

In comparison, Birk treated another group of 15 men who expressed no interest in changing their orientation. Yet 4 out 15 still reported a shift to a "straight" orientation.

The original link to these studies is no longer operating, but these studies were collected by Dr. Warren Throckmorton, who has a site here:

https://www.sitframework.com/resources/

Sorry this is so long, but I feel it's important to provide strong support based on real studies (not fake loud-mouthed propaganda that shouts down the truth) to brave and correct people like you.

The people trying to discredit you and that sincere brave man have no scientific backing to their claims.

P.S. I haven't looked through Dr. Throckmorton's new site thoroughly, but I assume his original material regarding the studies can be found on the new site.

P.P.S. Regarding Blogger: It's a great tool, and impressive as a free tool, but I've had problems for years with commenting. Maybe because I don't comment with a Blogger account (I don't have one). Sometimes my comment isn't accepted but it doesn't tell me why. Over the past year, the spam filters changed so that it takes 1-3 minutes of clicking images before my comment is accepted and even then, it doesn't necessarily show up on the blog owner's side. No complaints, just explaining why I'm emailing your rather than leaving a comment. I apologize for any hassle caused by this.

You're doing a great job, Chava.

Best wishes,

Myrtle Rising

P.P.S. Oops, just one more thing with your permission...?

I had a teacher in 6th grade who'd served in the Korean War and he used to tell us things like, "I remember when grass was something you mowed, not something you smoked! I remember when weed was an annoying herb you tried to clear out from your garden, not something you smoked. And I remember when gay was a beautiful synonym for happy! And it was a beautiful woman's name! And then those people"--and here he looked choked--"those horrible people took this beautiful word, this beautiful name, and used it to refer to--"

And I can't remember how he described them, but it wasn't flattering. He was a great teacher (I only had him one hour a day for language arts, sadly), and then he killed himself several years later.

Anyway, your final italicized bit at the end reminded me of him and what he said. You're right and you're not the only way to feel the way you do.HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10943174572566458612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3706868407157129107.post-30288904757408451782018-07-24T11:17:22.064+03:002018-07-24T11:17:22.064+03:00Dear Chava,
