Someone must have been praying for me...thank you.

20 Tammuz 5775

I had responded to a fellow commenter on Reb Dov Bar Leib's End of Days blog concerning my idea for my own blog, and even given out its name, which I'd had in my head for probably the last 5 years or so. That is a long time to hesitate; but I realized that because I had revealed my idea, anyone who stopped by and read it might be able to take it before I did. I understand that this is not necessarily the best of motives, but there it is. We'll see how it goes from here.

I want to thank anyone who took the time to think of me in positive terms in relation to having my own forum. Here is its story:

Most Jews in the know refer to Hava haRishona, the First Eve, wife of Adam haRishon, the First Adam. Most people understand who Eve was, and her co-starring (or starring, depending on who you're speaking with) role in how the world came to be the way it is now.

Because by all accounts and all Jewish religious authorities (just Google them!) we are nearly at the end of the End of Days, there has to be a Last Eve, or Hava haAharona. She is not me; she is far more learned, smarter and discerning than I; however, neither of us are prophetesses (there are 7 of them in the Tana"ch). Her mission in life is to do her best to correct the mistake of Hava haRishona by clarifiying things, separating good from evil as kindly as possible (with the caveat that, sometimes, kindness will not be possible). I pray and hope that my writing will help her do her job.

  1. To help Hava Ahrona, Hashem gave her 3 Mitzvos: lighting Shabbat candles; taking "chalah" when she bakes Challot for Shabbat; and Niddah (Mikve). These are an integral part of her identity. http://www.jewfaq.org/women.htm

  2. Thank you so much, Neshama!

Personally, I only do the first one now. I tried baking challah a few years ago and it came out SO BAD!!! - and I'm past the mikve stage of my life. But I ended it well, here in Eretz haKodesh.

For now, I guess I'll have to write about them occasionally. And try baking challah again at some point...unless H' has other plans. ;)

  3. What a beautiful concept and a beautiful blog name!
I've always made sure to read your comments and now I'm glad you have your own blog.
    Wishing you tons of success....

I appreciate your comments and read them all. You are invited to visit again and, of course, leave comments. These are the rules:

1. This is a change brought about by my first foul, spam-worthy comment on the part of an anonymous commenter: I WILL NOT POST ANY MORE COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS COMMENTS. You MUST have at least a nickname at the end of your post, period. If you don't have enough courage to name yourself in some form or fashion, don't bother to comment here.

2. If you do not agree with content posted on this blog, please use polite ways of responding; make it easy for me to resolve conflict. Foul language, nastiness and attempts to convert me and my readers to other religions will be deleted. My blog; my call.

3. I, the blogger, reserve the prerogative to moderate comments, or not, without notice, for any reason.
