"I Reserve Judgment..."

23 Heshvan 5778

Part of the message from the hozeh Nir ben Artzi, as posted on the front page of his Web site, Ta'ir Neri. I don't know how long it will remain there.

We heard from The Absolute Truth by way of English translation that the hozeh Nir ben Artzi said last week that HQB"H is ready to reveal who Mashiah is. The question is when.

UPDATE from Shirat Devorah: Rav Menachem [Robinson, who blogs The Absolute Truth,] has had a stroke in his cerebellum. Pray and say tehillim for Menachem Berel ben Rivka.

Note: There seems to be a controversy in Shirat Devorah's comment section over whether to include Berel in R' Menachem's name. Having read it, I'd say that both ways are OK. But you can figure it out for yourself there (link above). FURTHER NOTE: Mrs. Robinson posted on her husband's blog a little while ago and says it's Menachem Ben Rifka.

Many thanks to Shirat Devorah for being our conduit of information in this matter, and to Mrs. Robinson for straightening us out!

***

I replied to an anonymous commenter on Reb Dov Bear bar Leib's blog, End of Days, who said the following:

The message of Nir Ben Artzi on how Moshiach will be revealed just doesn't sound right.
H', when HE deems it's time, He will see to it that we will know and the world will know. How, where, what and when is something only HKB'H knows!

Reb ben Artzi haHozeh doesn't sit down and calculate. He sees visions; that's what Hozeh means. All he's telling is what he saw.

[Maybe I should have said it more like this: "A Hozeh, such as Reb ben Artzi, doesn't sit down and calculate..." I don't actually know what he does or how he does it. This note is not in the original message. -CDG]

I would reserve judgment for now if I were you or anyone else who questions right now, for positive or negative. We as a people have been through so much, for so long, it's hard to tell what's going on.

Reserving judgment means saying neither yes nor no. To give a negative example, HQB"H told Lavan haRasha, who was about to approach his son-in-law Yaaqov Avinu after the latter had left to return to his father's house, in Bereshith 31:24:

כד  וַיָּבֹ֧א אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶל־לָבָ֥ן הָֽאֲרַמִּ֖י בַּֽחֲלֹ֣ם הַלָּ֑יְלָה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ הִשָּׁ֧מֶר לְךָ֛ פֶּן־תְּדַבֵּ֥ר עִם־יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב מִטּ֥וֹב עַד־רָֽע

24 And God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream of the night, and He said to him, "Beware lest you speak with Jacob either good or evil." (Chabad translation)

Meaning, say nothing at all. L'havdil, perhaps this word from Reb ben Artzi is a test for us all. We must never doubt that haShem will redeem us. The questions, as always, are when and through whom.

Speaking of "through whom," I have always wondered how HaShem is going to get around the spiritual leaders of the nation to bring us Redemption, and with it our Righteous King Mashiah, Sanhedrin and Levitical Priesthood.

Remember that the 10 Spies who opposed Moshe Rabbenu were also the leaders of the nation, and they spoiled it for everyone, necessitating a 40-year-long wait until we could enter the Land.

I cannot, nay must not, leave it there. I don't want to accuse all rabbis of keeping geula from us, or us from geula. But, too many are: too fast, too slow, going in the wrong direction, making divisions among Jews where there were none before, and so on. It has been said many times, even here on this blog, that most rabbis at the end of days will be Erev Rav.

The rest is history...until, possibly, now, be"H.

Could it be that HQB"H is now offering a perfect solution: Putting the revelation of Mashiah's identity into the hands and mouths of the very ones who would keep us from attaining redemption? And threatening pressure on them if they choose not to?

We will have to keep our eyes open and watch carefully. Reb ben Artzi has put his entire life on the line here, putting this message right on the home page of his Web site! If he's wrong, all 7734 (turn upside down to see what the word is) will break loose and he may not survive it. I shudder to think what would happen to his family, too.

I hope he's right, but I dare not say "yes!" yet. Reserving judgment gives me a way out without doing harm to him or to our people. And it leaves the door open for geula, if he is right, rather than slamming the door in its face, so to speak, and automatically making him wrong even if he would have been right.

I wait with 'bated breath for the results.

How about you?

***

I repeat, please pray for Menachem (or Menachem Berel) ben Rivka. Thank you.

UPDATE: I knew there was something I forgot! See R' Lazer Brody's take on current events leading to geula shlemah on video here.

UPDATE: Devorah from Shirat Devorah, quoting Reb Menachem Robinson's daughter's FB page 15/11/17:
He’s still in the ICU. He’s on a respirator and can’t move. His condition has not improved. Please keep praying for him. Menachem ben Rivka

Found it strange that you wrote a whole article on something that someone had sent in just saying 'no one knows how and when Moshiach will come'.
Where is this in any way disparaging R' Nir Ben Artzi? He, like most of us, are awaiting Moshiach's coming any moment. We all are praying for his arrival and know that we are at that time of history, so it could be any day. In the meantime a Refuah Shleimah to all he need it and especially, wishing Menachem Berel Ben Rivka a 'speedy Refuah Shleima'.

Hi moishe,

I was under the impression that when the commenter said "just doesn't sound right" that it was close to a judgment against Reb ben Artzi, as many comments concerning him and his messages really are.

That said, however, it is my opinion, and I thank you for presenting yours. I'm sure there is more than one way of looking at it. I'm just trying to present a way to observe what may be happening without disparaging OR praising him, or anyone else putting out similar messages, just yet.

The post, tho it appears to be about this comment, is really about the image above, which gives a portion of Reb ben Artzi's message given last week in the original language. BTW, I translated the message for my Shabbat table, and my husband agreed with me that it was really risky for Reb ben Artzi to publicize it. It took a lot of guts and/or emuna.

I don't know if you saw my update adding a link to R' Lazer Brody's recent video, The Gate to Geula, or not; however, I added it for emphasis on the current events front. I think R' Brody's video gives Reb ben Artzi's words here a lot of push forward.

Shalom,

I used to write to you before... for reasons i do not much comment..
I have been an admirer of Rav Menachem, his blog, and it has helped me a lot. Of-course i also read and have gained a lot from other Jewish blogs too. yours included.

This is what i feel, perhaps Hashem let this happen to Rav Menachem as i see, that his ailment (may he soon be completely recovered Amen), has and is bringing many Jews who might have disliked a lot of how he was trying to reach out to all the world, Jew and gentile.. they seem to be coming together, and all and many are davening in unity for Rav's recovery.
this is only for you to read.. just sharing with you what i think..
May Mashiach come... soon.. and may Rav Menachem be soon back on his blog.. amen v' Amen.

Hashem bless you and yours for your great blog... and Hashem bless Am Israel.. and also all good peoples of the world.. Amen.

todah for reading.

Very good post. Rav Brody sums up the recent happenings. I think it NOT COINCIDENTAL that poor Reb Menachem has taken ill. His voice for the coming of Mashiach has been strong, bringing many to become aware. How or why, I don’t know, but there is a connection here. The prophecies also say that Israel will not have to be drawn into the fighting. Others will (HaShem) will fight for her. This will also be partt of the cleansing of the evil in the world, as I see it.

Hi everyone,
Is it just me or have other people also wondered whether Rav Nir Ben Artzi is really the Moshiach. He is saying a lot of things that only the Moshiach would know about. And why would Rav Menachem Robinson translate into English Rav Ben Artzi's comments. Rav Menachem said more than once that he knew the identity of the Moshiach and what better way to reveal the "Absolute Truth" than to quote the Moshiach himself. Many Rabbis have said that when the Moshiach will be revealed, a lot of people will find it hard to believe.

Thanks, Neshama! I can't help but agree with you regarding Reb Menachem, may he come back to us recovered in time to greet Mashiah.

HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemah said...

Hi Dove,

I'm sure you're not the only one. But remember that Reb ben Artzi is a seer - a spiritual gift from haShem in and of itself. He could "see" lots of things.

I would be pretty shocked if he were Mashiah, but I might be able to get used to the idea. It would be cool if you are right. I think he's playing it pretty well if he is, giving us the impression that it's someone else.

But - I'm holding to my word: No judgment. Need to keep the door open so that a potential Mashiah doesn't have to be harmed in any way on account of our pointing with too much certainty too soon.

The whole thing is like trying to peer through thick fog.

Hi Anon 13 November, 2017 08:53,

I watched and listened to the passage you referred to several times. It seems to me that a little beyond where you noted, the Rebbetzen says that it's not literally a woman named Cheftzibah, but the desire of HQB"H Himself to announce Mashiah.

If anyone else followed that link, would you kindly tell me whether I'm right or wrong - thank you.

Many people miss the point of geulah, the idea that Am Yisrael has to repent before Hashem will send the Moshiach. There aren't signs that the nation is on the right path, the sins of Yisrael ate more visible than ever, the generation of geulah being the most sinful.
To indicate that Mashiach may be here or there, to speculate upon the natter is utterly nonsense. Why Mashiach should come before his time? Are there merits accumulated by Am Yisrael to indicate sparing the nation of chevelei haMaahiach? How about the havoc played in the world by Erev Rav posing as Jewish people? Miri

HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemah said...

Ah...if it were only that simple, Miri. I would say that a chief Erev Rav middah is not to expose themselves as Jews except when it suits them and their purposes, mainly to keep the rest of us from realizing the fulfillment of our Jewish lives here in Eretz Yisrael (or anywhere, for that matter - see what JStreet U is promoting of late: the best proof that they're not pro-Israel at all; they'd rather see us homeless and scattered again, "not a nation but a religion," as many of us used to say before we woke up and did t'shuva.). But also perfectly good Jews have to disguise themselves in order to keep their jobs or whatever it is that's holding them back because at the moment they don't see anything they can do about their situation. If I know what you're referring to, I feel the frustration too. Why didn't people prepare 10 or 20 years ago? Try to connect themselves? But, I can tell you personally, I had to pray and ask permission from HQB"H before we could become connected with the way home, both physically and spiritually.

And is it our individual pecadilloes that anger and disappoint haShem so much, or is it that we've forgotten what real nationhood feels like, looks like, acts like, and what to expect and demand from Jewish leadership? For example, do we know how to behave when someone has paid for public transportation but hasn't validated their card on the light rail here in Yerushalayim? That would be "derekh eretz kadma laTorah."

As I see it, both the individual and the collective play into each other and so, both are the answer there. And the derekh eretz part plays a major role. Can we get there in time?

Hi Orna Nitzevet! Good to hear from you.

I have a question: What do you mean "no shlita" regarding R' Menachem (the link name to the post you linked to above)? - todah rabbah.

Thank you CDG!
Rav Menachem have a great insight in many halachic questions and many times he research deeper by asking his great but humble teacher and yet
in many Hasidic groups the Rebbe gives spiritual guidance; but for questions of halakhah they ask a Rav. ThisRav is sometimes referred to as the Rav of the Hasidic group. This position normally is occupied by the Av Bet Din or chief justice, of a Hasidic group.
Rav Menachem a great teacher and guide of many, aval bli shlita so far. With important decisions he always ask his Rabbi :).
13 ways of prayer.
12 windows (tribes) in Bet Knesset, 13. Of Bne Noah.
We must unite in prayer to greet Mashiah Tzidkeinu.

HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemah said...

Orna Nitzevet, thank you for your explanation.

However, what I am asking is: I thought shlit"a means, may the person we are referring to (a man, in this case) have a long life -- and he doesn't necessarily have to be a rav. Am I wrong? I am sure you are not wishing death for R' (or Reb) Menachem in his hour of danger, chas v'shalom! So, why not shlit"a?

And, the question Reb Dov Bear bar Leib raised has not been answered. I am curious about that, too.

Many thanks in advance.

Oy...may rav Menachem be with us in Kingdom of Hashem on earth after comming back!!!!

Shlita is shlita....

Every Rabbi SHLITA will be called upon to give us the NAME.
Rav Menachem is not allowed to because of not having shlita.

Please read my post again.
The song of Harav Shalom Arush is standard on my page.

It appears on every new post.

Why?
Hashem knows, who I am to say.

I got a discussion about the name with rav Menachem before Hoshana rabba being in the tehilim we read from Rosh Hodesh ELUL until. ...

3 names of rabbaim are in.
Not a chabad rabbi
Not a nanach rabbi
Not a Niftar rabbi

3 rabbi's respecting the whole Oraita, alive, married and well.

Not understood why 3.

Now BET DIN...
AV BET DIN...

What rav Nir Ben Artzi said is very important.
How can we accept Mashiah?

When we see that all the SHLITA rabbaim say the same THING.
Why?
Frankly, its impossible they do THAT.
Unless Hashem force them to do that!

Shabbat shalom le kulam!

HDG, Yerushalayim, E"Y Shlemah said...

Dearest Orna Nitzevet, I am so sorry, but you have me more confused than ever. Is it SHLITA or could it possibly be סמכה? Smicha (Rabbinical ordination in English)?

According to Morfix:

שליט"א
(abbreviation) Shlita, may he live a good long life, Amen (addendum to the name of an important person, grand rabbi)

So it could still apply to Reb (or Rav) Menachem, couldn't it? He is important to our geula-oriented blogging community.

And there's the question of whether he has:

סְמִיכָה
ordination, graduation

Many, many thanks! and Hodesh Tov חודש טוב to you and yours, and to all my readers!

Why is Shlita (שליט"א) only used for Rabbi’s and not everyone? Why not wish everyone to live a long life?
Because being a rabbi with סמיכה gives a huge responsibility and intervention from Shamaim.
We wish them a long life hoping that every single advice they give us is connected to Yirat Shamaim. They have the whole world on the shoulders.
That's the reason why.
And to remember us while respecting them, we bow just to Hashem. No Rabbi want to be avoda zara for us. We pray for them to have a long life, to give us the words of Hashem.
