Dear World: I don't care

I don't care that you sympathize with Hamas

I know you wouldn't tolerate any of the things they did to us if they would've done it to you

I don't care that you're outraged by Israel's response to the massacre more than the massacre itself

I know you would do everything to eliminate such pure evil if you experienced it yourself

I don't care that this doesn't fit neatly into your carefully constructed narrative of 'Israel as aggressor' and 'Palestinian as victim'

The truth hurts sometimes, but hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your feelings

I don't care if you think we are at fault, that we had it coming, that Hamas' actions didn't occur in a vacuum (or to deny they ever happened)

If you feel that the poster of a kidnapped child hurts your cause, maybe yours is a lost cause

I don't care about your calls for a premature ceasefire, about your demand that we provide them with electricity, that we stop fighting for 'humanitarian reasons'

What of a humanitarian gesture to release our 230+ hostages — elderly, children, babies snatched from their cribs?

I don't care that you've rallied for Palestine as part of your march for LGBTQ rights, trans rights, workers' rights, socialism, climate change, intersectionality, Black Lives Matter, fighting Islamophobia and 'all forms of racism'

Your gullibility would be laughable if it wasn't so hypocritical. None of those things exist under Hamas

I don't care that you 'love Jewish people — just hate Israel', that you have some friends that are Jewish, that maybe you're ethnically Jewish yourself — and therefore you're entitled to levy every libel in the playbook against us

Words matter. They lead to actions. When a lie is repeated often enough it's accepted as truth. You are laying the groundwork for more attacks against us

 I don't care that you wave the flag of 'human rights', that you've become overnight experts in international law, that you shout fancy slogans you don't understand such as proportionality, occupation and apartheid

Your humanity is selective. In your mind, human rights don't apply to us because we are undeserving. You didn't speak up when our women and children were horribly assaulted

I don't care if you think we are colonialists, imperialists, and settlers and that we should just go back to where we came from

We are back to where we came from

I don't care if you believe in a one state solution, a two state solution, a federation, an internationalized Jerusalem or any other theory drawn up in your ivory tower

We won't readily hold out our necks and endanger our lives in order to satisfy your thought experiments and placate your conscience from afar

I don't care if you consider yourself anti-Zionist but not antisemitic

We've seen enough Jews around the world attacked over the last 3 weeks under the guise of 'anti-Zionism'

I don't care that you think we are too powerful, too technologically advanced, too sophisticated

If we didn't build ourselves up to this point, we'd get eaten alive by Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Iran and Palestinian terrorism

I don't care that you blame us for 1948 refugees, for the fact that they have no state, for the keys that they wave in their fantasy of 'right of return'

Three weeks ago we got a glimpse of that 'return' looks like and what it means for our children

I don't care if you think we aren't real Jews, that Zionism has nothing to do with Judaism, that Jews are a religion and not a nationality and so we deserve no state

Your denials have zero impact on the strength of our ideals and the self-affirmation of our identity

I don't care that you accuse us of flaunting the myriad of UN resolutions, inquiries and statements

They reflect more on the institutional decay of the UN than on us

I don't care about your media coverage, the lies, the equivocation, the acceptance of Hamas talking points and statistics

Your echo chamber is just another weapon in their strategic arsenal

I don't care that you accused us of bombing the Al Ahli hospital

It was only a matter of time before you found a symbol for Israel's wickedness. The subsequent retractions were a fig leaf once the truth emerged that Islamic Jihad was responsible and that the hospital is still standing

I don't care that you see us as a criminal state, a terror state, usurpers, baby killers, Christ killers, Khaybar Jews or any other depravity that exists in your mind

Your libels lay the groundwork for our dehumanization. Rings a bell. We will fight it

I don't care that you've inverted the truth by accusing us of genocide

If positions were reversed and Hamas held the power we do now, you'd see what a genocide looks like

I don't care that you're angry, boiling and outraged

I don't care that you're glued to your TV screens and Telegram channels

I don't care that you're mad

I don't care if you're out on the street, waving your flag and chanting your slogans

We won't die silently the way you want us to

For the first time in 2,000 years we are organized, we are motivated, and we will defend ourselves

We fight for light over darkness

Morality over evil

Not that it matters to you — but we will stick to the rules and hold the high moral ground not because you expect it from us, but because they are a value for us

We will do so ethically and thoughtfully, for we are the People of the Book

Our power and strength are our necessity, because the alternative for us is:

Be'eri, Kfar Aza, Pittsburgh, Toulouse, Farhud, Hebron, Birkenau, Belzec, Babi Yar, Kristallnacht, Kielce and Kishinev

Do you think for a moment that we would return to that reality just to make you feel a little better?

How the world's oldest minority — now a majority here — could treat its own internal minorities par excellence amidst the complicated and messy reality of ethnic conflict

How we could painfully dismember parts of our homeland and offer them on the platter of peace to Palestinians that want neither peace nor some parts (they want all of it)

How we could dazzle you with USB sticks, drip irrigation, operating system kernels, Nobel Prize winners, swallowable medical cameras, deep tech, quantum mechanics, generative AI and cures for disease

But now I'm finally accepting that you don't care

You never did

You don't see and you don't hear

And because I cared about what you think so much, that so deeply hurts

...but you don't have my best interests at heart

You take issue with my base identity, with what I represent

Don't expect me to wait for your approval this time

It doesn't matter what I do, you're not going to change

Source. Is Lady Justice unblinded in Israel...?

If you are Israeli and live in Israel, I have a couple of questions for you:

1. Did you know that we've been living under emergency measures since 1948?

The emergency measures I'm referring to are described in a paper written and published in the United States, called "Israel's Forty-Five Year Emergency: Are There Time Limits to Derogations from Human Rights Obligations?" (1994)

You can download it for free HERE. 

The emergency measures issue is a much bigger topic than I can cover now. But here's what I understand of it:

In post-2000 Israel, these measures have the following unexpected effects, among others:

a. Justify acting in ways that are ordinarily unacceptable, such as looking for scapegoats in evil, as well as good where it may not exist, in real life between Jews and Arabs.

b. Put the most powerful forces at the service of the government (including the Knesset and the High/Supreme Court) in inappropriate ways: army, police, media, education, medicine and more.

2. Have you heard that the Israeli government revoked these measures?

Chances are, you haven't. Neither have I. 

It may seem as though the normal in Israel as a result of these measures is because of our unique situation. In fact, it is unique in at least these ways:

a. We are really being attacked almost constantly because we are the Jewish state, from around the world and, to our shock and surprise, from within.

b. Our enemies have been complaining all over the world that we don't give them normal rights. This includes the right to buy property near all-Jewish towns and city neighborhoods. But then, why can't we buy property (land plus what is built on it) in places where we have thousands of years of history? And why do our enemies kill those among them who sell land to us? And why does it seem to me that our government doesn't protect those among them who sell us land that actually belongs to us? And, for that matter, why do we have so many responsibilities towards others who live here, and the rest of the world, and almost no rights of our own to go with them?

c. Our government feels obligated to conform to world norms even though it might just end up with us all dead. This includes acting more responsibly toward others who live among us than among the Jewish people for whom the nation was created (what other nation on earth should have more obligation towards Jews than Israel? And, yes, the rest of the world considers Jews to be the lowest on earth.), finding Jews belonging to the "wrong" group and making them out to be as bad as the Arabs that cause a lot of the problems, or equalizing the evil. Do we have an "arrest incentive program" (see the comments on the link) or something?

See below for an example. Have we forgotten a young father in prison for a confession under torture for nearly 7 years?

I attended a Zoom meeting recently concerning Amiram Ben Uliel, the young father in question. Readers may remember him as the one who was accused of burning down a house in the Arab village of Duma, killing a baby and his parents in 2015. Aviram was also convicted, as I found out during this meeting, after he had been interrogated for seventeen (17) days straight and endured torture after that, when he didn't break. We were told that after all that, Amiram had dissociated emotionally from his surroundings, accounting for the impression that he had willingly confessed before the trial. 

It is estimated that there is over 75% chance that he sustained C-PTSD from this experience. I can't imagine it would have got any better during his time in prison.

Furthermore, even though he had a lawyer, they were not allowed to meet and discuss the case beforehand.

Even until the time of the meeting (about a month ago), the lawyer told us, no studies have been done on people who suffered interrogation and torture for the length of time Amiram had. 

So, the judge who presumed that Amiram was in possession of his faculties when he confessed had no idea what he was talking about, and no basis on which to make the judgment he did seven years ago.

Also, Amiram was given a lie detector test...and he failed. That means his confession shouldn't have been admissible because, according to the test, he LIED.

Somehow I think the "emergency measures" have had a lot to do with cases like this, and this one in particular. Calling him a terrorist is an excuse to abuse him further, possibly for the rest of his life. And the measures allow them to do that, apparently.

They do that a lot to "settlers" — that is, to Jews who live in Yehuda and Shomron, and those who lived in Gush Katif until August 2005.

May G-d help us and redeem us quickly, before the world goes dead!

It's time for elections. Where's Mashiah? Who is he?

My first words for this article were: 

If haShem expects me to vote for Mashiah, he has to show up and be identified, even if he doesn't say a word. His actions will speak for him.

Well, we in Israel have been on a roller coaster for the last month or so, between the announcement of new elections, the killing of a young settler by police who drove the car he was in off the road (I'm tempted to call him our George Floyd, but there is a lot of difference between the two, so it is hard to put them together...even though someone made a cartoon of Ahuvya Sandak, z"l, with a policeman's knee on his neck; rabbis have called for an investigation)...

...and now the return to Israel of Jonathan and Esther Pollard just yesterday. Does he want to be in politics? An emphatic no! "I've suffered enough."  Welcome home, Jonathan and Esther!

Not to mention that we are in the midst of a grand worldwide experiment called the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine (none of the choices are officially approved by any health agency; in the US all approvals have been for emergency use only (EUA) and instructions explicitly state that nothing is promised in terms of benefits.) Germany (co-creator of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine) is jealous because we got ahead of them to deploy vaccines. Apparently we paid twice what Europe paid per dose, so we received it sooner, that's all. I only hope our prime minister's concern is not misguided. He called Pfizer's CEO personally (same link as the one immediately above).

Just before that, the three girls who were in prison in Bulgaria were freed just after Jonathan Pollard's onerous parole was declared over. I look forward to seeing other Jewish prisoners who are on the receiving end of punishments that are highly inappropriate for the crimes they committed, or who are innocent of them because others committed these crimes using them for bait, go free.

My head is spinning. Too much is going on, my computer hasn't been working and I am typing on another one for now. It has slowed me down on the blog, among other things. I hope the links are enough to explain and give substance to this article, so that my precious readers understand that it isn't just my opinion.

Happy secular new year 2021. I hope it won't be as scary as some are predicting, and that we'll see Mashiah ruling Israel instead of the crazy, immature organization that poses as our government!

(Ahuvya z"l's mother actually had to cry out, "Have you no shame?" when summoned by telephone to testify at the police station! And where is our government's response to that?)

I wrote up these blessings on my recent Hebrew birthday, 29 Heshvan, to be passed along. I hope you like them. Here they are:

1. That your relationship with G-d, your health and your wealth will increase.

2. That your children and all generations after you will serve G-d, have a proper moral compass and prosper accordingly.

3. That we will all live to greet Mashiah together.

4. And that all the prisoners of Zion will be delivered out of jail and be with us.

They do not need to necessarily be in that order!

And now for the great part.

Reb Dov Bear commented the following (very light editing, links and emphases by HDG) recently:

Rav [Alon] Anava gave us a bombshell calculation [discussion begins approximately 29m, 30s into the video -HDG]. Most people count the Midway point between Adam and Mashiach ben David to the BIRTH of David in the year 2854. So since אדם is from Adam to David to Mashiach ben David, with David exactly in the middle, most simply double 2854 to get 5708, which was the year of the Founding of the State of Israel. So they trace the Birth of David to the "Birth" of Mashiach, not the actual Rise of Mashiach and the beginning of the New Era. So Rav Anava rightly pointed out that David actually became king in Hevron at Age 30, and he correctly points out that at the time he was co-regent of Israel and Yehudah with Shaul's son Ish Boshet. David was the King of Yehudah, and Ish Boshet was the King of the Rest of Israel. What he does not point out is that in the third year of David's reign, Ish Boshet was assassinated, and the rest of the Tribes came to David so that in the third year of David's reign, he became King of all of Israel.

Although David moved the capital from Hevron to Yerushalayim in the 8th year of his reign, he actually became King of all Israel in the 3rd year of his reign in Hevron with the death/assassination of Ish Boshet. Yet, obviously all the tribes north of Yehudah, which were all the Tribes, were not happy with a situation where the King of Israel ruled from the Judean Provincial capital of Hevron. So David concluded that he could only keep his kingdom together by capturing Yerushalayim which was somewhat in "no man's land," at the actual border between Yehudah and Binyamin in the Jebusite city that had not yet been conquered. So from a practical perspective, the Davidic Dynasty was cemented when David was 37 years old and had conquered Yerushalayim from the Jebusites. So once again double that 37 year period to add 74 years or (ע"ד years) to 5708 to get the year of our Joy, 5782. So there you go, an additional calculation besides the ones that I have brought you on this blog such as the 1335 years since the setting up of the cornerstone of the Golden Dome (the Abomination that Makes Desolate) in 687 ce, leading to the exact same year 2022 (5782-early 5783)! Now since 5782 is the Shmittah year of destiny, Ben David sets up his Messianic kingdom in the immediate aftermath of 5782 in the Motzei Shmittah year 5783, but Chaza"l tell us that the Geulah is actually in force in the 7th year even if Ben David sets up his kingdom in year 8. It is why HaShem alone as Go'el Yisrael is the 7th brachah of Shmonah Esrei.

It seems to me that this has been revealed now because the n w o people have done such a good job in frightening large numbers of people into believing that the world has no choice but to submit and follow them, using the coronavirus as an opportunity...and until the Kadosh Baruch Hu reveals Himself, choice must continue to exist.

UPDATE this section: "Youth for Pollard" has designated today a SPECIAL DAY OF PRAYER for Jonathan Pollard. We can always pray that the p t b will be so busy for today & the next few days that they won't be able to do what they usually do in the case of "Israel's agent." See Alan Dershowitz: Cautious, optimistic that Pollard will go free.

Two things we can all do to bring our geula closer by helping America's longest-lived standing prisoner of Zion, as far as I know (he is currently at what we hope and pray is the end of a 5-year-long house- and neighborhood-arrest, and has not been able to work because of the conditions placed on him) are:

 1. Pray for Jonathan Pollard (Yehonatan ben Malka) and for his wife, Esther (Esther Yocheved bat Raizel Bracha, for her health), that he be released on time this Friday. Suggested prayers

2. Write to President Trump and ask him to commute Jonathan's sentence to time served.

I personally believe that millions of Israelis owe Jonathan their lives for what he did for their country — not against America, but for Israel — more than 35 years ago.

Free Jonathan and Esther Pollard, free ourselves for geula!

HaShem lives and is beyond life as we have understood it until now, because He created it and is the One who gives it and takes it away. He has command of many, many messengers, including non-human ones.

He made the Golden Rule, "do to others as you would have them do to you." Or, as Jewish people learn it from our sage Hillel, "Whatever is hateful and distasteful to you, do not do to your fellow man. This is the entire Torah, the rest is commentary. Go learn."

The vast majority of the world's nations are now infected with the coronavirus, making the plague a truly worldwide phenomenon. Along with all the things most informed people are doing to guard against it, it is good to take stock spiritually as well.

As my colleague Devash asked,

"Tell me, is the novelty of being home from work beginning to wear off, your patience with the constraints beginning to wear thin, and the restrictions of movement starting to chafe?  There is a holy, righteous Jew who sacrificed his entire life  - his family, his marriage, his career, his health and his freedom for Klal Yisrael's benefit, and he is all but forgotten.  That Jew is Yehonatan (Jonathan) Pollard, the man Rav Mordechai Eliyahu, ztz"l said is "the Yosef HaTzadik of our generation." 

I admit to following her on this topic. Freeing prisoners, especially Jewish ones who have been treated especially harshly (to say the least in this case) because they're Jews, is a great mitzvah, one that every Jew should want to be part of, any way we can.

Therefore, don't think we're separating Jonathan Pollard from other Prisoners of Zion. R' Mordechai Eliyahu, zz"l, declared that freeing Jonathan is the key to freeing all of them — and thus, all of us.

See, we don't have to make it harder on ourselves than it has to be. If to free the one is to free them all, then let's focus on the one. The one most hated by the world, and the most beloved by us, especially those among us who owe their very lives to him because of what he did that put him in the position he's in now. It's merely derekh eretz for him to be freed to come home to Israel now.

We've heard all the objections from the Gentiles and their Jewish supporters, and dismiss them all. Many others have been spies against America (which Jonathan wasn't. He was for Israel. That, it seems, is the major crime he was punished for...) and spent far less time in jail; furthermore, their parole, if any, wasn't as harsh as it is currently for Jonathan. I'm not going to bother going over all that again, as if we still have to prove the case. It is well proven, and we are more than well-acquainted with the antisemitism — and the aim at every single Jew in the world through Jonathan and other Prisoners of Zion — that is the source of this demand for constant proof.

To those of you who are against: Study the case or shut up. Or maybe you prefer to be constantly under lockdown, quarantine or on a hospital respirator before freeing a Jew who is being way overpunished?

(And, oh, I thought you would want to be rid of Jews who are loyal to Israel. Now's your chance to hide your nefarious methods behind corona!)

Or, maybe ALL OTHER SPIES AND TRAITORS ARE ALLOWED TO BE FREE IN AMERICA. ONLY THE JEWS MUST PAY NOT ONLY FULL PRICE, BUT THE PRICE THE OTHERS WOULD HAVE PAID IF THEY'D PAID IN FULL. Sounds familiar...


And I'll add an answer to another, more recent objection that I haven't read yet: Jonathan and his wife Esther have been under far worse than the lockdown we are in now, on a continual basis since Jonathan was released from jail in 2015. Where are they suffering this? In New York City, one of the most infected cities in the USA as I write. Effectively, they're still in jail, considering their age, health conditions and the prevalence of corona where they live.

Back to us: Putting them on a plane to Israel with as many possessions as it can hold, and finding them a place to live, should be no problem for Israel, if corona is the obstacle. They are not as likely to be infected as others in their neighborhood.
 
I imagine that they'll need to be quarantined under the same rules we are, not so much for our protection, but for theirs.

I hope they have a great view and plenty of room to live in. And no ankle bracelet!

Bibi, are you listening?

Mr. Trump, can America afford to hold on to the Pollards under these conditions? She didn't have the decency to make it possible for Jonathan to have a job and support himself while on extreme parole; so the cost is not his fault.

While I'm on this thought train, I'd like to address how we deal with the Jewish media, meaning any public forum, whether newspaper, television program, social media or the like.

I commented to Devash:

...I think we need a long-range strategy, G-d help us. Tactics aren't enough, and we can't wait for normalcy to return -- if it ever will. Which I doubt. I'd rather have geula.

Just one suggestion for now: Perhaps media that calls itself "Jewish" or is thus associated need to be called out for their horrible language regarding their fellow Jews and the tribulations we suffer. The UK Jewish community seems to have succeeded in eliminating two of its "Jewish" media organs, the Jewish Chronicle and the Jewish News (which was going to merge with the Chronicle) because of their obsession with "virtue signaling" to our enemies. Jews there just stopped buying their dirty rags, and Muslims didn't accept them either.

David Singer, in an Arutz 7 article, calls on those who call our goal to restore Jewish sovereignty "West Bank Annexation" to stop this insidious practice. I'd like to see what happens with that. Maybe we can support this call, and more calls for better behavior by our news purveyors.

"Restoring Jewish sovereignty" is not "West Bank annexation"

We consumers of "Jewish" media can name and shame many media centers meant for our consumption, and demand that they portray Jonathan and other Jewish prisoners prominently and sympathetically as well — among the many other issues we have with them. And, even boycott them for good measure when they don't comply.

I really think that our media somehow portray us in general as agreeing with Jonathan's punishment, and this influences the media at large, which in turn influences the politicians and government officials. This, by leaving out the voices of the many of us — perhaps the majority of world Jewry — who disagree.

If Jews in England can cut off media that no longer represent their primary audience, why not we in Israel? Need I say more?

On the freeing of Meir Ettinger…

Before Shabbat I was in touch with someone who has more details about the upcoming release of Meir Ettinger from administrative detention and the people who campaigned for it; this person permitted me to quote without naming; thus, the following interview. 

It is difficult for former Americans and others who have experienced similar government structures to understand how Israel operates; it is a democracy, but certain things don’t work in the same way and thus certain actions taken will not have their intended effects. For instance, protesting and otherwise asserting the people’s will; petitions don’t work here but other things do, as we will see. (That’s why I will not put up notices for petitions here for Israeli prisoners anymore. They do not work.) I learned a lot through this conversation and wish to share.

It is my hope and prayer that this post and similar ones that I have written in the past will join with the writings of others to help with Pidyon Sh’vuyim פדיון שבויים, a very important mitzvah, the freeing of prisoners. Consider all the Prisoners of Zion throughout history: These are Jews who are either 1) in jail for sentences far longer than fitting for their crimes because they are Jews (cf. Jonathan Pollard); or 2) just because they’re Jews (like Meir) — any excuse will do. Nowadays, defending oneself against the enemy is a frequently-employed reason to ban a person from his hometown or put him in jail; in Meir’s instance, it was his writings and even, apparently, manufactured writings attributed to him.

CDG: Is there any thought about suing the government to pay the legal bills and for the campaign? After all, our taxpayer shekels went into the injustice, against our will. I for one would rather have the government use what they already have to pay for the injustice they caused, not only to Meir, but to all the other detainees as well.

CDG: I apologize for my ignorance. I have never lived under laws like this before. I'm confused, so thank you for patiently explaining all this to me. 

So, if I understand you correctly, because there are no charges against Meir, can there also be no financial compensation for his imprisonment? What about the loss to his reputation (among some sectors; in ours it has been enhanced, surely), his health, the fact that he couldn't see his son born or brissed [circumcised -CDG]? How about how this affects his wife? And all for NOTHING Meir did wrong.

I want Mashiach now, this minute.

Source: They can't sue.  Right now there are 300 Arabs under Administrative Detention.  I am glad for that because it keeps them off the streets, so less terrorists walking around.  The first Jew they used Administrative Detention on was Rabbi Kahane.  He knew it was an ongoing thing so he fasted until he started to lose his eye sight and then they allowed him out.  He had rabbis trying to convince the Rabbi to eat even a piece of bread the size of an olive.  He refused.  His name and organization was too big to allow him to die and they let him go.  Meir Ettinger fasted and start to faint on and off.  They didn't even take him to the hospital, but treated him in jail.  If they want you to confess to something or think you know something or feel you are a danger, or whatever the h*ll they feel they can put you under this administrative detention in jail or even in your home.  They did that to Noam Federman and he couldn't go out even on his porch, not step outside his door.  They watched and if he was caught, he would be back in jail.  No charges:  Old British Law.  They don't have to tell you or your lawyer why they are holding you.  I have lived here since 1978 and have seen much. 

CDG: Well, I hope I did something right, then, when I posted the link to the fundraising site on the notice in the upper right corner. I hope that some people respond to it. This is why I was asking.

Source: We need the flow of money to keep this going with publicity.   Petitions are ok, but government really doesn't care about that.  In America every town has representation, and your representative would care what you wrote or the petition you sent.  She wants to be elected again.  We don't have that in Israel.  You vote for a party and that is it.  Of course, they want to get elected again and try to do what people want, but some change when they become MKs and some are reined in by the Prime Minister if they are in the coalition.   It’s a different system.  Democratic, but much different than America.
